National doesn't allow 3 rentals outstanding at same time
In a VERY unique scenario last week, I had rented a car in YYC to head to a small town for work. At that small town, with no National anywhere near, we caught a private flight to YEG. In YEG, we rented a car, and drove to another small town. Something came up VERY last minute, and we had the private aircraft pick us up again, at a small airport to take us to YQU. As we were boarding this flight, I booked on the app for YQU.
The plan was to stop in YQU, then head back to my YEG car in the jet, I was going to drive it to YEG, and the jet was going to pick me up there and head to YYC, where my last rental car was. Long story - but when you're with one of your wealthiest investors in his own plane, you do what he says.
Nonetheless, I get to YQU, and they would not let me rent a car. It said in the system that I had outstanding amounts on my account and it wouldn't let me check it out. IT took about 30 minutes to process a rental under someone else's name, which was a huge inconvenience when we were only planning to be on the ground in YQU for about 25 minutes.
I know a unique scenario, but wondering why they have this policy for an EE member with 100+ rentals a year.
