Consequently, I looked at earlier flights and did an SDC to a flight which appeared to have better availability in BF (as it turned out it had R2/RN2 availability, but I did not know that until later). After the change was made, when looking at the new flight online, there was no indication of the RPU "following" her to the new flight, let alone being applied.
It took a call to United (which included of two lengthy holds while the agent consulted with others), but eventually was able to get the already-committed RPU applied to the new flight and get her confirmed in BF (based on R inventory being available).
My question: Should it have taken a phone call to have a previously committed RPU follow the ticket holder to an SDC flight? Based on "rules", did the agent do her a favor? Or should the online system have taken care of it in the first place? Thx.
From my experience, the RPU will not follow with a SDC. Its best to call in and make the change. They typically like to use a free RPU from your account and credit back the unused one as well.. As an aside I 0/3 on PS flights in the past several months. Nice find with the R2
