It's funny that you mention it. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has been raising and spending tons of money (more than $1M) on imposing their reglion on us in a few states. When they brought their campaign to California, a local chapter of the church in San Francisco threatened to take them to the IRS and have their non-profit status stripped, as the church was (and still is) obviously acting simply to enact political change and using it's non-profit guise as a front.

From what I understand, that threat did make the LDS back off in CA, but they're still on their unAmerican campaign elsewhere.
