it will definitely be cheaper than buying a full fare j or f ticket. but you dont get the miles and would be difficult to change or cancel. i can get a F ticket from Sin to Lax for around 4k USD on lifemiles but it will easily cost more than 10k if I choose to buy it from the carrier
