I have tried to reach out to LH around this but am yet to receive and answer so was hoping for some help from you guys

I have booked tickets from SEA to CPH with LH in July. I am travelling with wife and kids (6 and 9). While I am a frequent traveller, the same cannot be said for the rest of my family. Kids has flown once and that was when we moved from Finland to the US and they did not appreciate it very much

When booking the tickets, I noticed that I could not reserve seats without additional charges(low economy). While I will absolutely pay for this if needed, (money is not the real issue here as I hope you understand), I am wondering if it is really so that if I do not choose seats before the flight, there is a chance my kids will end up in seats away from me and my wife ? How does this actually work ?

As I mentioned before I have tried to reach out to LH, but am yet to hear back from them on my email.
