Bit of hyperbole there not born out in the article as it turned out to be a problem with the Semaphore system virus checker not BAs IT
Eventually, the explanation was found. Virus checking software in the Semaphore system had appeared to malfunction, constantly selecting messages and checking them over and over again.
So BA were actually blameless.
