Which Amex card do you have? All I can see on my Amex statements is booking class, not fare basis.
The other thing that has been remarked on before is that the Amex site takes the first letter of the fare basis for each sector as the booking class for that sector. In many cases this is therefore incorrect; for example ex-EU I class fares book the short-haul EU-LON sector in J - but the Amex statement gives the booking class as I.
This also causes confusion when booking awards, as the fare basis for an award for travel on BA is typically something like BAFM03. So the Amex statement says that the booking class is B, regardless of whether you're actually booked in Z, U, P or X.
