I'm midway through my 2nd round trip on Cathay in Y in less than 6 months because enjoyed it so much the first time. Posted my thoughts on here.

Re the food timing, I'm guessing it's because its around the time people would be hungry for breakfast. On my outbound (from LHR) flight we left midday and had lunch after takeoff. At around the 7/8 hour mark lots of requests for noodles were being made, this being the natural dinner time for this lot of passengers. The 2nd meal service was a couple of hours later. Given that the HKG-LHR flight is 14 hours, I'm not sure how many people could stay asleep that long anyway.

Re the boarding, out of LHR there was zoned boarding in Y, but not out of HKG, it was just a case of queing. Not sure if one is faster than the other as it always seems to be the cause of debate, particularly when you throw in that elite status pax can board whenever anyway!
