Not points based, but similar experience.

For years (at least 7) now I have been collecting points AND nights for 2 rooms during multiple recurring business trips. I book both rooms in my name and rewards #, for myself and a colleague (he doesn't have/care about the rewards)

I never explicitly asked, it just posted that way and really helped toward my status each year.

Last November, I noticed that the stay posted the points for both rooms, but nights for only 1. I called MR hotline, they told me it is up to the hotel to enter it correctly, in order to post both rooms nights.

I spoke to the GM and he told me he was surprised it didn't post as usual and that there was nothing different his staff was doing.

Shame on me for not following up since then, but maybe something has changed?
