Legacies can't do any more than what JetBlue did if the OP booked on their last flight of the day.
With B6's limited options to many destinations, their "last flight of the day" may very well be much earlier than other carriers'.
Don't get me wrong; I love JetBlue. But I also (now) understand its limitations and will book elsewhere when I need a very high probability of arriving as planned.
