Thanks, when my Amtrak train stopped at Penn Newark I did notice the PATH trains and I was thinking getting off there in the future would probably be much easier (not to mention carve off a lot of time). Unfortunately I was not ready to get off the train at that point. Definitely a conveniently located hotel if you are Amtraking to NYC.
