* You're referring to book 4 nights on points, get the 5th night free, so when you book book for 5 nights & only 4 nights of points will be withdrawn from your account.
* Whether you're staying on an award or paid stay, the Gold/Plat bennies apply (although most Hawaiian properties are resorts, so free brekkie is exempt. With resorts you might get an upgrade and you'll get free i-net, but that's about it. Some might have something for Plats or there might be a discount on the resort fee. You have the potential to get an upgrade as a Gold/Plat member. If you want to guarantee an upgrade, it would be either via paid or points (but I'll let others who are more familiar w/ the points aspect chime in).
Marriott Vacation Club is Marriott's timeshare properties. They are available to book on points.
I'll let others who have spent time on Kauai chime in on what are the best properties there/might meet your needs.
Congrats on your upcoming wedding & learning #happywifehappylife
Cheers.
