We were very lucky that our travel insurance had coverages for identity theft protection for the trip and 180 days afterward. Resolutions/remediation has occurred by the CSA TRAVEL PROTECTION services. It was not expensive travel insurance to boot! but saved us $1000s.

This is where setting up TWO FACTOR AUTHENTICATION (look it up) is even more critical. Also, don't log in from PCs you don't own (hotel PCs for example). When connecting over wifi... try to use a VPN to ensure secure connectivity.
