I frequently have itineraries long booked and then a need to add another trip much later whereby a rebooking as single itinerary would be prohibitive, or flights to from different zones not compatible on half return fares which makes a single itinerary unviable cost wise compared to a straight return + added single. Many of us work with budget constraints be they personal or professional.
