I know this topic has been covered but had some specific questions and most of the info I found in the forums seems to be old. Feel free to answer some of none of these random questions!

My soon to be new wife and I are looking to stay at a Marriott in Kauai and looking for some recommendations. I travel a lot for work and am looking for something “different” then a “normal” marriott? I did not see any Autograph type hotels on the island and its hard to tell from the pictures which Marriott is different. When I say different I mean not the same old lobbies - same room layout etc as other full service Marriotts.

And a few specific questions:

- Do I recall you can use your points for a certain amount of nights and then you get a bonus night?
- When you use point are you still eligible for upgrades? Or can I just use my points to book a nicer room. The only thing I want to guarantee is a room with a real full view of the ocean (new wifes request and I need to learn happy wife happy life ASAP

Bonus question:

A guy on another forum mentioned Marriott vacation club. I have no idea what that is or how to book there. Can you use points at those types of properties?

Double Bonus question:

Any “must” dos. Like 100 percent - you will regret if you don’t do it while you’re there?
