I just leave it in my bag or slide it between the seat and wall, where they cannot see it (this latter location being non-complaint I am sure). If you are the type that doesnt put a bag under the seat in front of you, preferring to have it all overhead- then I can see this being an issue having to wait on the seat belt light and all that.
