If UA performed maintenance on the VC-25s, I'd expect Obama's flights to get endlessly delayed due to MX, not having the right parts on site, having to fly stuff in from SFO (happened to me on Maui once), etc.

If knowledge of how the thing is maintained is sufficient to put the thing in danger, then some people at Boeing and/or the Air Force should be fired. Secure systems are secure even if full knowledge of their implementations are known (SSH, SSL, etc).

That said, when's the last time the VC-25 couldn't take off due to MX? It looks like Kerry's plane, a military version of the 757 (C-32) has had a lot of problems recently, but I've never heard about issues with the VC-25s.
