I have spent time searching and have read this thread...but can't seem to get a consistent answer.
I'm having trouble getting a clear answer on this ... Westjet is part of oneworld I understand. Does that mean that if I fly Westjet the segments / miles can contribute to my AA elite status? And if so, do I have to book via the AA website (which does not show Westjet flights under "All Carriers, or Oneworld").
I sent the question to AA Customer service, who sent back a canned, ambiguous answer.
Thanks.

Note that
AA lists WestJet under "Other airline partners", not "oneworld airline partners". As
shadrach said, if you book as a "WestJet" (not AA) flight, as the page for WestJet shows you'd be earning "miles" (RDM) equal to 100% of base miles, regardless of booking class, and shows no "EQMs per mile flown" the way many other partner pages do.
