I do not think you can do a SDC to a later flight that is scheduled to depart after midnight without significant level of human intervention (I.e. supervision overrides) under normal circumstances. I'm saying this based on personal experience and other first hand accounts that I have come across.

I've had it done for me, but it seemed that it was an exception rather than the rule. Since they did it for me I wasn't too keen on asking what the "policy" was. It was almost 6 months ago that I asked, and IIRC there were some IRROPS that day, which may have affected their decision to accommodate my request.
