AA seems to be tightening up on this where the SWU needs to valid at time of the trip and not just at time of booking. More and more people are reporting getting AAgents that don't go an inch beyond what they know, let alone what the rules allow (which is much greater). There is a chance you will reach an sympathetic AAgent and let you reapply the recently redeposited SWU to an upcoming trip but probably not just move it to 2016's pool. But I'm pretty safe in saying there is zero chance if you don't call. I'm sure you can find a way to spin it thinking it should be usable, but don't get upset if they say no.
Actually I have been very fortunate couple of times that an expiring SWU
was applied for a trip past the expiry date. Recently in another stroke of
luck...a SWU was never pulled due to agent changing class of
service

I just hope that it sticks and the computer does not do
a sweep !!! Fingers crossed...Has this happened to anyone ? Will AA eventually catch up on it ? How long ?
