I just tried a booking in premium economy for YVR-AKL-SYD roundtrip. While I was allowed to select seats for the transpacific legs, the website told me that seat selection was not possible for the AKL-SYD-AKL segments, even though I was on a PE fare. Is this standard? The flights are operated by 777-300s with spaceseats if it matters. I have Aeroplan Gold Status, and was given access to the seats reserved for "frequent flyers" on the TP legs.
