Another value can come when you are points-rich as opposed to cash.
Using points can often allow you to spend money on other aspects of your trip.
My wife and I burned a *TON* of points last November.
That included, 3 nights in Moorea, 3 nights in Bora Bora.
We did a 5* holiday and it only cost us excursions and food (flight was done on points, too)
Those were points well spent
