While on the West Coast, I dropped into one of the Daiso Japanese ("Dollar+") Store (also, online ... selections are far too limited/none shown) and found one of the inexpensive laptop sleeve with a zipper, made of durable nylon - it's slightly oversized for my Sony Viao notebook, an excellent buy for $3 or $4 at most. The small charger, cables & travel mouse slipped into a zippered mesh pouch and go into the bigger sleeve/pouch - problem solved for scratches & marks (obviously, no protection against being dropped onto hard surfaces, etc.)

Slip that easily in & out of the Timbuk2 slim backpack or eBags Mother Lode convertible, etc. - even, the outside pockets of my Costco Kirkland carry-on roller for quick access.

Daiso stores are all over in LAX and SFO area but the ones in ICN are great with even more gadgets. Otherwise, checkout Microcenter retail store locations nearby as they have inexpensive, high-density polyurethane foam pouches & envelopes in different sizes ...
