I think I had the same suite (412) last week. Hard to complain about this hotel but it would be nice if they upgraded beyond the minimum required as they do have a number of true suites.
Breakfast is great. Love any hotel that lets you pour your own champagne. Drinks normally run 22eur (more than Harry's Bar!).
All the water taxis we used were in nice shape. Ride to/from train station is only 60eur.
Definitely take the Gritti -arranged Murano Cenedese tour. Doable in two hours but allocate three or four if you think you may buy something. They provide free water taxi and it's really amazing watching them work in the shop. We were late to lunch so they also called the restaurant to let them know and arrange special transportation for us. It's hard not to buy anything since the stuff is so beautiful but the price will do its best to deter you.
