So the more interesting part of the trip is yet to come for F aficionados... Part of the reason I booked the GA ticket AMS-CGK is that I knew GA participated in Bidupgrade so I could try for F at a decent price. I paid 780 euros for the J ticket and then I bidupgrade 14M IDR for the potential upgrade to F. It sounds like a lot but for a 14hr F trip on GA, I was in. Having flown a quick sector AMS-LGW in F before on GA, I knew it would be a great flight.

That's why I was very happy to receive the email that my bidupgrade had been accepted !

At AMS airport, the F service started off with an escort from the GA F checkin desk to the VIP lounge. This lounge is actually available for all passengers with a charge of 295 euros ! haha It's akin to the CIP lounge at SIN which I experienced when I booked a transfer with St Regis SIN. It's special !

The entrance is at the far right of the terminal close to the GA checkin area. It has multiple rooms so that groups can book them individually. The 6 F passengers on GA were all in the same room. There is a movie theater, art, high end duty free...you get the picture.



Food options were limited with served finger sandwiches and some nuts and cornichons but beautifully presented.


The best features of this lounge - 1) it wasn't crowded so felt like a true VIP lounge
2) Customs came to you (love that)

3) You could still come and go into the terminal at will for duty free shopping or to wander through a secure door into the terminal.


When it was time for boarding, I went through the dedicated security line within the lounge and tarmac transfer via A8 (love this too).
