I fly DCA-SYR fairly regularly. Two different kinds of planes serve the route. The CR2s are going to send you to the 35X hell that the other posters are describing. The ERJ-170s will usually go to a normal gate, and shouldn't be a problem. You'll want to look for the flights with a First Class section that are operated by Republic Airlines, not Air Wisconsin.
