I am looking at flights from SYR to EYW. Through DCA (on American Airlines) there is a 48 minutes layover on the way down and a 33 minute layover on the way back? Do you think these are doable? I have never flown through DCA, but have $600 in vouchers on American I would like to use and these are the only flights with 1 stop versus 2.
This is pretty tight. My main concern is that I believe the DCA-EYW flight only runs on weekends, once a day. If you miss it you're out of luck. The SYR-DCA flight is probably on small equipment, and thus there is a chance it might operate into 35X at DCA, which is a bus gate. The plane pulls up to a parking spot, you get off the plane and stand next to it for a long time, everyone retrieves bags, you get on a bus to the terminal. It can eat up a ton of time. It looks like the SYR flights have been using jetbridges lately, looking at arrivals, but with a CRJ there is always a chance of ending up at 35X.
