I think OP was posting on behalf of his friend using FT as a social media site to reach out to the passenger who gave up a seat. Likely only had a person’s name and no e-mail address, phone number, physical address, etc. to reach that person. You know, it is internet, social media…

If it was successful then later we would have heard about that on cable news channel as heartwarming story…
