Well actually profit at time t is reflective of strategy at time t-x so technically, if ba are doing fine (and some indicators are actually not that bright such as last year trend on premium traffic), they must have done something right before (such as offering free food and drink?) which gives no indication as to whether new different strategies will be even more effective or on the contrary highly counter productive.
As for the supposed 'moaning', can you point me out to any ft airline forum where people are not serially complaining, including those of airlines in dire financial situation and formerly those on airlines which have already gone bankrupt?
So if people moan when airlines will do well and moan when airlines will do badly, it makes it hard to double guess what moaning is or is not consequential especially as we don't know if airlines doing badly could have actually done even worse or those doing well could have actually done even better.
