Many rental-car locations "permit" after-hours returns. But at some (most?) of such locations, rental charges continue to accrue until the car is checked in by a company employee when the location reopens for business. Make sure you know what the practice is at any location that permits after-hours returns.
I would be scheduled to be returning it about an hour after they close their office on Sunday. I am thinking about keeping it an additional two hours. There is a drop box on site and after hours returns are authorized.
