As a frequent visitor on the hotel side, I can say that the pool situation was out of control during busy seasons before the current restrictions on renters went into place a couple of years or so ago. I have written other posts on FT about it, e.g.:

It all stems from a supply problem: the pool areas simply do not have the capacity to handle everyone. And I recall you would get condo folk reserving entire rows of chaises and leaving them mostly unused.

I don't have much sympathy for the owners who are complaining. They agreed to the contract, and I'm sorry that a hotel guest paying $1,300+ per night for a regular room during high season gets priority over renters.
