If your laptop is Windows based, consider Connectify. This enables you to make one connection (to the hotel - $$), but then your laptop becomes a WiFi hot spot and all other devices connect to it. There's a free version IIRC.

I used it a lot before I moved to a Mac (which I cannot find the same software for).
