OP is trying to book an Alaska Air award redemption using MP, so the only objective of calling FI would be to see if the availability is "phantom" (ie if the booking class is zeroed out), which it sounds like it is. Even if the availability is not phantom, FI would not be able to book it for them...AS would have to.
I believe that FI is searchable on EF, so if OP has access to EF s/he could get that info for him/herself w/o calling FI.
