This, and it might not give a good impression to seem to bargain over ticket prices. Plus, there's the staff time and the fact that DL probably doesn't want to authorize front line employees to give personalized discounts to people.
Most hotels don't give their front desk agents the authority to cut rates from what the computer (revenue management) shows, even when there are empty rooms late at night.
