Just back from a 3-night stay at El San Juan. For a beach resort it wasn't bad at all, especially for the ~$125/night rate. As Diamond was upgraded to a pool-side Cacita which was relatively recently renovated and in much better condition than I expected (wood-like tile floors, 2-person shower, sitting area, 55" TV, etc). It also made accessing the pool and beach quite easy. Also, as Diamond, breakfast was given as 1 buffet and 1 continental ($13 to upgrade from continental to buffet, only upgraded once). Beach vacations aren't my thing but I'd go back to ESJ again if the rate was similar.
