Downgraded on one leg but no mileage refund
Sorry if there's another thread, the mobile search function is abysmal.
Just got an email that my flight tomorrow evening to TPE has no PEY, and that I would be contacted by an agent in due time. Figured I'd call in myself, only to find out I was actually going to be downgraded to Y, with no J seats available on that flight and no PEY seats other than an 8am departure. This was an AM redemption booking.
Inquired about miles difference for that leg and was told that, since the return was still in PEY, they would not refund anything.
Told the agent I thought this was unfair somehow, and he ended up rebooking us to an hour later in J.
I've had these no-PEY-available emails a couple of times, and always ended up in J as a result. Never been downgraded.
No harm done in this case, and no complaints either - just maybe a tale for those that encounter a similar scenario.
Did make me wonder though if downgrades on one leg (what if it's F to J or even PEY?) with no miles reimbursed are indeed common practice?
