I can't speak to which property is best with kids but I stayed at both the Holiday Inn and the EVEN near Times Square last week. I wouldn't bother with the HI again (the room was a bit small) but I did like EVEN. It's a fairly new property but the rooms were spacious and the staff was wonderful. Neither provided free breakfast though. I found the location of both to be pretty convenient although I liked the EVEN location better in terms of easy pickup/dropoff when using ridesharing services (e.g. Uber, Lyft).
