How could a FS be a "country house hotel" .

Try to pursue "Pride of Britain" or "Relais & Châteaux" and you will find nice places. For the original experience head to Sharrow Bay or for gourmet 2 Michelin star dining to Gidleigh Park or Manoir Quatre Saisons (all are NOT castles). One of my favorites is also Bodysgallen Hall.
