Long layover at T5, can I add baggage from landside?
I have a flight to Canada from DXB: DXB-LHR-YYZ. I often leave LHR landside with baggage checked thru to YYZ then return, go thru passport controls etc and board my LHR-YYZ connecting flight.
On my next such trip I will only check one bag thru to YYZ. I would like to pick up 2 packages landside and check them through on the connecting flight to YYZ, then go thru passport control and board my connecting flight.
I tried getting a definite answer from BA but they would not give me one. I definitely need to know. Taking the extra 2 bags would certainly save me a LOT of expense (in the UK) as well as time and aggravation (in Canada).
I would not be exceeding my baggage allowance (3 bags 32 kg each) at any time and certainly would follow all safety and customs and passport control requirements. I am a Canadian (Canada passport) and have never had any issues with entering the UK - and then leaving it.
Thoughts? Comments?
