I read that article in the Chicago Tribune also since the LA Times is now a Tribune newspapaper.

I have another friend who lives in Paris who was somehow able to buy a fan during this period. She said, "It changed my life!" Whoever it was that said, "Paris is always a good idea" may not have been right 100% of the time.

I have maintained for many years that the three greatest inventions ever are the wheel, contact lenses and air conditioning - not necessarily in that order!
