The OP hasn't explained which cabin they're flying in, that I've seen.

There was no devaluation USA-Africa in business class. It was 75k one way before, it's 75k one way now.

There was a mild devaluation USA-Africa in economy class. It was 37.5k one way before, it's 40k one way now.

And Qatar doesn't have first class on flights to South Africa, so I doubt it's a first-class redemption.
