Depending on your connection times in DOH it would certainly be worth it to upgrade the connection flights, not with 1:30h though which would give you ~45 min at Al Mourjan.
If you can get the 787 or A380 do it, just to try it out on one leg.

I've got the Dreamliner on the legs from/to the UK, but alas the upgrade price is my month's rent + change! I'm on the A320 on from DOH to EBB, which is probably much of a muchness wherever you sit (well apart from at the very end of the pointy bit but the pilots tend to object).
