Prior to receiving your SSN, were you ever previously issued with an ITIN that you used, e.g. for tax purposes?

My husband had an ITIN that we used to file taxes before he was a legal permanent resident. After he became an LPR, he was issued with an SSN so we had to change the ITIN to the new SSN on all financial records (e.g. credit cards, bank accounts, etc.).
