Probably more to do with aircraft age and when the manufacturer started fitting type IIIB exits rather than cost or airline preference. BA don't operate the 737NG either.
Indeed. I'm not sure that the hinged upward-opening door has been offered as a customer choice. It was introduced to the 737 for certification reasons (a long and controversial story) and AIUI Boeing just built the new doors into the aircraft from the time they were introduced to the type.
Do any of the A320 family have these?
