Courtyard Indianapolis Northwest - 71st Street
Just stayed at the Courtyard Indianapolis Northwest, by I-465 at 71st Street exit. Overall OK experience, I won't be staying here again.
The hotel has been updated in the past few years so all current Courtyard features: updated lobby and bistro with seating areas, TVs everywhere. Firepit and seating area outside. Rooms have been updated also although the bathroom/closet area isn't impressive - mirrored closet door was off the track when I arrived; low shower head over a cheap builder's tub (I'm 6 foot so not a giant), some sort of fake plastic granite (Corian?) had been put up as the shower surround.
Guestroom housekeeping was unimpressive, something was missed each day I was there - no new coffee one day, no new shampoo another. They changed towels but never changed the sheets and no, I didn't put out the "save the environment" tag they offer. Stuff on the hallway carpet lasted two days; was vacuumed on the third.
FD and Bistro service was quick, friendly and professional each time I interacted with them, no complaints there.
Fitness room off the indoor pool. The fitness room has been redecorated but very small: two treadmills, one elliptical and one weight rack with most, but not all, dumbbells up to 50 lbs. Oh, and barely any floor space to actually use the dumbbells on the adjustable bench.
Biggest issue for me was the noise from the highway, which is surprising given there's a tall sound wall behind the hotel. I had trouble sleeping each night even when I turned on the loud through the wall HVAC. And loud through the wall HVAC is another negative in my view.
Given the noise and the service/housekeeping deficiencies, I won't be staying here again. If you want a Courtyard in that area I recommend the one on North Meridian (103rd Street in Carmel) or the Residence Inn across the highway at 6220 Digital Way. Best option in that area is the Renaissance in Carmel.
