Thanks a lot @SanDiego1K & all other for reports. Knowing they are not most recent I have also checked tripadvisor and finally decided to choose Le Vendome given its outstanding reviews. Plus it is a leisure stay, so I prefer a more relaxed property anyways.

Will report back after my trip to provide an updated impression for future travelers.
