I didn't say "without emphasis on either syllable", I said "I wouldn't emphasise either syllable
over the other. It would be LAT-AM". Emphasis on both syllables, if you see what I mean. I definitely wouldn't say lat-AM, that would be as bad as saying a-DULT or har-... instead of saying A-dult or HAR-rass (the latter, as an English judge once correctly pointed out, should "rhyme" with "embarrass")
No offence intended to those who have accents (and just for emphasis, should one be required, as a natural speaker of Standard English, I don't have an accent)
