As a fellow Brit, I am sat here trying to say LATAM without emphasis on either syllable and I do not think it is possible in a Spanish sense. I think you are pronouncing it lat-AM as it should be or you are pronouncing it LAT-am which to my British ears sounds right and without emphasis but does have the emphasis on the LAT
