Well, if there are empty seats, then in all likelihood they'll release the award on one of the flights. If the flight is full or nearly full, then there probably won't be any awards, and they probably won't let you switch.
Besides, this thread seems to be more about them moving pax around to help with potential oversale situations. That's not likely to impact pax booked in the F cabin. Seems maybe they're trying to move pax to alternate flights so as to limit the number of op-ups they need to do.
