I was in Paris in May, and stayed at Hotel Grand-Leveque, recommended by Frommers and Rick Steves. My single room with bath down the hall was about $40.00 a night, and they threw in breakfast at no charge, even though all their information says breakfast is extra. I think rooms with bath are also available. I believe the place was renovated in the last several years.

I found the place clean, quiet, and in a great location! A block and a half from the Ecole Militaire (military school) subway stop, a few blocks from the Eiffel Tower, a few more to the Arche de Triomphe. The street it is on has an outdoor market, and is just lovely. It was a great base of operations, and I'll certainly plan to stay there again when I return!
